Wise Foods
Wise Foods has made snacks since 1921. Over a century, the company has launched hundreds of products. Most came and went without a record. The brand rarely announces discontinuations or publishes product timelines.
This makes tracking discontinued snacks hard. But we have found three Wise snacks that have left the shelves. And left fans in disbelief.
Discontinued: Between 2015 and 2019
Wise Foods launched Cheez Waffies in the mid-1960s. The snack sandwiched cheese filling between crispy waffle wafers.Early packages came in cylindrical cans, like Pringles. The product found its audience in the Northeast, where Wise had sold chips since 1921.
Cheez Waffies vanished from shelves sometime between 2015 and 2019. Fans created online petitions asking Wise to bring them back. The company posted a teaser on Facebook in 2019, hinting at a return. Nothing came of it. The snack has not been seen in chip aisles in years.
Discontinued: Unknown (limited seasonal run)
Wise partnered with Cinnabon around 2016 to make cinnamon roll-flavored popcorn. The company air-popped kernels and coated them with brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter. This was Wise’s play for the sweet popcorn market.
A 2016 review noted good cinnamon and butter taste but uneven coating. Some kernels were heavily seasoned. Others were bland. Wise sold it as a seasonal item, not a permanent product. After one run, it disappeared. Wise never brought it back.
Changed: Around 2018
Wise changed its BBQ chip recipe around 2018. The company replaced the original formula with Honey BBQ. The BBQ line stayed on shelves, but the flavor was different.
Long-time buyers complained. They wanted the tangy, smoky original, not the sweeter version. They even made an online petition. Wise ignored them. The old recipe is gone. Only Honey BBQ remains. The company offers no plans to restore the original or sell both versions.
