Pillsbury
Note: Some exact dates weren’t available in my research, so I’ve indicated “unknown” where specific release or discontinuation dates couldn’t be confirmed.

The OG chocolate champion that started it all.
These breakfast pastries were Pillsbury’s first chocolate consumer product. With its vanilla flaky pastry and creamy chocolate filling, it struck the perfect balance between sweet and subtle. But sadly, the flavor was ahead of its time.
When Pillsbury discontinued this frozen treat, it devastated fans. One passionate supporter even resorted to Yahoo! Answers, desperately asking when it disappeared. The answer? “Yesterday,” replied one user. Brutal.

My favorite of all the Toaster Strudel flavors.
For over a decade, there was nothing like this pastry. Inspired by Boston’s famous dessert, it featured layers of spongy cake, rich custard filling, and chocolate icing.
With an almost perfect 4.8-star rating at Walmart, it’s still shocking that it’s gone.

Autumn flavors in a frozen box.
Launched during Halloween 2014, this seasonal flavor captured fall’s cozy atmosphere. The bright orange filling actually tasted more authentic than competing pumpkin products. Many claimed it beat Pop-Tarts in the seasonal pastry wars.
But like falling leaves, its time was brief.

European flavors meet American convenience.
Pillsbury’s attempt to bring the Danish bakery experience to the freezer aisle was ambitious. The cream cheese filling offered just the right sweetness, topped with vanilla icing that didn’t overwhelm your taste buds.
But some consumers found the filling strange-looking and off-putting.

When Hershey’s tried to get into the breakfast game.
This 2018 collaboration used Hershey’s cocoa in the filling, the crust, and the icing. It was chocolate overload, but good.
But Pillsbury gave no explanation for its discontinuation.

Another crossover this time featuring cereal.
General Mills had the great idea to combine their Trix cereal with Toaster Strudel. The result? A pastry that looked the part but failed to deliver the iconic Trix taste everyone expected.
With strawberry on the edges and blueberry in the center, it was delicious. But it wasn’t Trix. Reviewers noted it tasted nothing like the cereal.

“Like a donut, but even better!” — or so the Toaster Strudel box claimed.
This pastry tried to capture America’s favorite fried treat in frozen form. With its glazed exterior and creamy vanilla filling, it came closer to a Bavarian cream donut than a simple glazed one.
Some fans swore it tasted exactly like eating a Krispy Kreme donut.

To celebrate the iconic 2004 film, Pillsbury went full pop culture with pink icing that paid homage to the movie’s signature aesthetic. Partnering with Lacey Chabert herself, they launched “The Most Fetch” sweepstakes where winners received personalized video messages from Gretchen Wieners.
The limited-edition run encouraged fans to create icing art with quotes like “You can’t sit with us.” When the 2024 Mean Girls musical film was released, many hoped for a comeback. It never came to fruition.

The Toaster Strudel that colored outside the lines.
The blue icing of this Toaster Strudel made it legendary. While the strawberry and blueberry filling provided a familiar taste, that distinctive blue drizzle elevated it to something else.

The mysterious flavor that time forgot.
Little is known about this intriguing combination, making it the most interesting Toaster Strudel flavor entry on our list. Peanut butter and strawberry—was it a stroke of genius or a flavor experiment gone wrong?
A ghost of a flavor that we wouldn’t mind trying again.
